Position: EHS SUPERVISOR - MANUFACTURING
Level: Supervisor (equivalent to Manager)
Contract term: Permanent
Recruitment reason: New-hired (to strengthen the current function)
Expected joining date: Pursuant to Vietnam Labor Law
Work location: Long Thanh, Dong Nai
Work time: Monday-Friday (8:00am-5:00pm)
Saturday (8:00am-5:00pm, off twice per month)
JOB DUTIES
Report to Vietnamese Production Manager (male, 50s)
Manage 1 staff (No EHS Manager)
Team size: 2 members (including this position)
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
- Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety awareness
- Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
- Serve as an advisor to business management on environmental, health, and safety issues; help prioritize and bring perspective to issues and present alternative solutions
- Assist in development and implementation of plans and procedures to comply with applicable local, state, federal, and international regulations; modify, update and execute established programs to achieve and maintain the state of compliance
- Perform work-site analysis of EHS risk factors; analyze job content and identify solutions
- Establish specifications and criteria for technically sound processes and procedures; work with specific groups to implement these criteria into best management practices
- Evaluate associate exposures to chemical, physical and biological hazards using a variety of instrumentation; interpret results and provide inputs on control measures where necessary
- Collect data, perform calculations and generate reports on injury/illness, waste generation, waste minimization, air emissions and water quality to local, state and federal agencies
- Revise emergency response and contingency plans to reflect changes in operations, conditions, and materials used
- Develop and validate analytical techniques, written procedures and standard protocols to support research, scientific, technical or engineering-related disciplines
- Train workforce on a wide variety of occupational health, safety, and environmental topics
- May give work direction to other technical resources
- May be asked to act as the company’s representative with external agencies during functional audits; provide technical input and support during inspections and other compliance or audit activities
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Desirable Background and Experience:
- Qualification: Bachelor Degree and above
- Language skill(s): English fluent (must)
- Minimum 10 years experience (must) including around 8 years dealing with environmental health, industrial hygiene and/or safety experience in manufacturing environment (preferable)
- Experience working in the same industry (medical equipment) and/or European factories is a very big plus
- Deep understanding about EHS standards and regulations (OHSAS, ISO…) as well as incident investigation techniques, causal analysis and occupational health
- Knowledgeable about chemical, physical and biological hazardous as well as the techniques utilized to control those workplace hazards; capable of articulating those hazards and controls to a wide variety of audiences
- Master in engineering controls for machine automation processes including guarding, LOTO (Log Out Tag Out) and safety FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) as well as handling industrial hygiene monitoring equipment
- Skilled in ergonomic evaluation of office, manufacturing and manual material handling tasks.
